Preamble:
India is going to be the youngest nation by 2022 with over 20% of the global workforce coming
from India. As such it is essential to focus on today’s young minds i.e. 10+ years children
who will be the major workforce in 2025. Skill India will truly achieve its Demographic
Dividend when we will ignite in them innovation & research orientation to develop their
21st-century skills like creative thinking, logical reasoning, problem-solving, team working,
empathy, leadership etc. to ensure they have built their capabilities for perpetual
livelihood. If the foundation is strong, the structure built thereon will be long-lasting.
*When it comes to innovation and patents, India has been expanding its investment
horizon abroad. Cumulative overseas direct investments increased to USD332.11 billion
in FY17 from USD21 billion in FY08, leading to a significant amount of technology transfer
through industrial acquisitions. India’s R&D ecosystem has grown at a phenomenal pace
in the last 10 years. 42 percent of the Global 500 R&D Spenders have centers in India,
with the figure expected to reach 49 percent by 2020. India has emerged as the most
preferred destinations for innovation in Asia & the 3rd biggest, globally, with ‘Silicon
Valley’ of East Bengaluru1 leading the charge.
Children’s thoughts and actions will be shaped by what they know and have experienced,
making education, in many ways, one of the best predictors of our nation’s future success.
Future livelihood opportunities can be classified into 3 categories – Digitized [Tech
based], Distributed [Decentralized & Startups] and Decarbonized [Renewable Energy &
Waste Management].
DRDO has launched it’s first unmanned tank, an 18-year-old boy from Chennai created
history by launching the lightest satellite, the country will witness the launch of 2 lunar
missions from Indian soil early next year! This all is exciting and probably giving a good
signal to install Design Thinking at the school level to create better and stronger youth of
tomorrow!
With this background, the RACE team has thought of creating experiential centers or
innovation labs for schools to promote “Design Thinking” in children through project-based
programs on Space exploration, AI, VR, IOT, e-Waste, Renewable energy, Six Sigma or
any new platforms or any such skill that they are passionate to learn. This will help them
thinking out of the box, pursuing their passion to drive innovation, create patents and build
their confidence to build our Nation!
Of course, this is a continuous process and unlearn/learn approach will help to remain in
sync with future technological disruptions. “Be a lifelong student” as said by Indra Nooyi
is so true!

RACE that stands for Robotics, Aeronautics, Coding & Entrepreneurship is a team of
highly professional, experienced, qualified Industry leaders who have come together to
create this revolutionary education system in India.
Purpose:
• To design world-class Skill Exploration centers for young children to promote
innovation and research, develop their 21st century and entrepreneurial skills
• To develop new patents under schools through children’s innovations.
• Make India the best in the class educational hub to make it truly the skill capital of the
world.
Proposed Ecosystem:
• Institutes:
NASA, ISRO, IUCAA, CSIR, TERI, LEED, C-DAC, Le Cordon Bleu, Alliance
Française, Max Muller etc.
• Industry partners:
BMW, Mercedes, Microsoft, Google,
• Government support:
NSDC, GOM
Approach:
• Approach a minimum of 10 schools in the city with this concept to understand the exact
requirements on innovation, skill learning & development.
• Create MOUs with select ecosystem partners as per market need.
• Create Pilot Centers – First year at Mumbai then year 2 onwards at Pune, Hyderabad,
Bengaluru, Gurgaon.
• Building a Model Skill Exploration Center approx. 3500 Sq. ft area covering space
innovation lab, AI/VR Experience center, IOT/Robotics Center, Renewable/Solar lab
set up, specific entrepreneurial skill lab like culinary, fashion design, beauty &
wellness, Film Making, Animation etc. supported by foreign language classrooms.
Each lab will have an associated subject matter, qualified mentor/s.
• Create customized industry immersion program through facility visits to NASA, ISRO,
DRDO, IISC, BMW, Mercedes Factory visits etc. or specific skill lab visits to identified
skill centers.
• Real life project intervention at Exploration Centre through expert mentors [IIT
Graduates/Post graduates]. Project work with a focus on skilling, promoting innovation,
teaching value systems and quality tools including Six Sigma.
• Create Institute/Industry certification program to give visibility to the innovation driven
by children.
• Publish patents created.

Value proposition for schools/parents/children:
• This is an annualized intervention program to understand, build and guide students to
innovate and acquire 21st-century skills.
• Supported well by the Ecosystem partners as per MOUs.
• There will be 2 weeks of international industry immersion program where children will
be exposed to real life industry applications in space exploration, AI, VR, Robotics and
special skills.
• The project work will comprise of 40 sessions of mentoring to build specific
applications of Industry4.0 revolution, next level applications like a space mission,
drones, robots, IOT apps, android, gamification, ML etc.
• Interested candidate will also undergo entrepreneurial skills under specific skill
building application in the field of B&W or Culinary or Fashion Designing.
• Will be trained in a foreign language – French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Chinese.
Next steps:
1. Seek inputs on market expectations.
2. Zero down on external stakeholders – important partners to sign MOU.
3. Create Think Tank from institutes/industry – External Thought Leaders
4. Organize funds
5. Start work on:
• Set up the time to create Pilot – Start to the Finish project plan.
• Lab layout – Exact space per lab, good reference to ATL creating hub & spoke
model.
• Academia/Content creation in consultation with subject matter experts
• Faculty/Mentor profiling per vertical
• Create IP treasury support for filing trademarks
• Overseas travel itinerary – What’s our USP over available such market tours?
6. Start interacting with schools/parents and children once above basic readiness is
achieved.
